Gliding Through the Gallery: A Labour of Love

Gliding Through the Gallery: A Labour of Love

After leaving my gallery job, I found myself asking an important question: How do I continue serving the art curious humans without being attached to a formal institution? My yearning to unrobe the fear of leaving what seemed safe and be of service generated a restlessness which produced an itch to pivot. The itch has led me to the work that was due from me, where I’d collaborate with my love for connecting humans with art, community and themselves. It has been a pleasure to speak and see light ignite from the eyes of all the art curious who’ve glided so far. It all started off simply, I was sharing short videos on TikTok, speaking about how accessible the gallery space actually is. I wanted to demystify it. To remind people that galleries are not sacred temples reserved for the initiated, but spaces for curiosity, reflection, and discovery. Then something beautiful happened. The art curious began responding. They said they could see the art, but that they wanted to experience it with my voice and perspective attached to it. They wanted guidance, conversation, and a shared way of looking. From that simple exchange, Gliding Through the Gallery was born. Since then, the community has grown in ways I could not have imagined. What was once an idea has become something tactile, a gathering of people who arrive with open hearts, thoughtful questions, and a willingness to sit with art slowly. To everyone who has walked alongside me on these glides: thank you for making this community real. At the core of the work that I do is love. Love for art, its healing properties, its intellectual provocations, and the ways it allows us to see ourselves and the world differently. But also love for the community that has formed around this shared curiosity. One of the most important things I’ve learned through this journey is that our individual purpose often reveals itself through service to the collective. When we lean into that service with sincerity, something remarkable happens: the path becomes clear. In serving the collective, we also find the ways we are meant to serve ourselves. Our anniversary glide will continue this reflection. On 4 July 2026, we will gather once again to celebrate one year of Gliding Through the Gallery and the community that has formed around it. It will be an opportunity to reflect on the artists, conversations, and creative exchanges that have shaped the journey through intimate studio visits, a shared meal, and a curated exhibition, while continuing to move through art together with curiosity, generosity, and intention.
